This afternoon at 4:10 PM, Company 11 (Potomac Valley) along with companies 8 (Boonsboro – Rohrersville) , Frederick 19 (Brunswick EMS) and EMS 1812 (Washington County Emergency Services were alerted for an Injured Person , reported Burn Injuries after a barbecue grill explosion in the 1400 block of Weverton Rd.
Support 11-7 arrived first to find an adult male suffering from second degree burns to his face. The crew from Support 11-7 began treatment of the patient and was joined moments later by EMS 1812.
After a consultation with the Burn Center in Baltimore, a helicopter was requested to assist, bringing Maryland State Police Medivac- Trooper 3 to the scene.
Engine 11-2 and Engine 81 after clearing the incident scene established a Landing Zone on Route 67 (Rohrersville Rd) in front of the Pleasant Valley Elementary School. Frederick Ambulance 197 (Bruinswick) along with Washington EMS 1812 transported the patient to the LZ (Landing Zone) where Trooper 3 transported to the Burn Center in Baltimore.
