At 6:07 PM, Company 11 was alerted for a River Rescue possible Drowning Patient on the Potomac River near the Route 340 Bridge.
Responding units were given updated information as a Kayaker brought to shore by bystanders with CPR in progress on the Virginia shoreline at the VA Wayside access point.
EMS 1812 (Washington County Emergency Services) and Loudoun County Engine 626 (Potomac Heights Station 26) arrived to find a single patient on the shoreline with CPR in progress.
Having the Patient on shore, all Boats were placed inservice. All additional resources were redirected to the VA Wayside and Gator 8 ( Boonsboro – Rohrersville Fire) and Jefferson County Wv. Gator 1 (Friendship Fire Co.) Were started to assist .
Crews on scene continued CPR efforts and began carrying the Patient by hand up the long dirt path, meeting Gator 1 halfway up tbe hill. The Patient was then transferred to Gator 1 and transport up to the roadway where Ambulance 199 ( Frederick County MD – Brunswick EMS) was stagged to contiue transport. The Patient was loaded into Ambulance 199 with EMS 1812 on board and transported as a Pri 1 Working Code to Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
At this time there is no additional information on the Patient or their condition.
