At 7:43 PM, company 11 and surrounding companies were alerted for a River Rescue on the Potomac River just north of Lock 34 for reported 2 Kayakers in distress.
Company 11 responded with Chief 11 (Car 11) and Support 11-1 w/ BT11. Chief 11 arrived at Lock 34 and established Command. Support 11-1 arrived and began to launch Boat 11.
Additional info reported 2 Kayakers in distress north of Lock 34. Car 11 excesses the towpath and preceded upstream towards the Dam. Chief 11 handed command over to Jefferson Chief 7 (Bakerton). Boat 11 with a crew of 2 launched and worked their way up stream towards the last know location.
Boat 11 arrived to find 2 kayakers out of their crafts and on a rock in the middle of the river. Boat 7-2 (Bakerton FD) launched and headed towards Boat 11s location to assist. Boat 11 rescued both occupants and headed down stream to Lock 34 to drop of both occupants while Boat 7-2 turned and headed down stream to find the missing kayak.
Both occupants were safely removed from the river and safely brought to shore at Lock 34 and both Kayaks were also removed and brought ashore.
Both occupants were checked out by EMS and refused any additional service. Having all occupants safe and brough a shore, Command was terminated and all units went in service.
At 9:29 PM with both Boat 11 amd 20 still at Lock 34 packing up, both units were requested by Frederick County to respond on a Water Rescue on the Potomac River in Brunswick. While Boat 11 and 20 were still responding, all occupants were found safe on the Virginia Shore line and all units were placed inservice.
