Washington County Emergency Management participated in a statewide NWS call this afternoon regarding the upcoming winter weather expected to impact the area Thursday. The following information was provided specific to Washington County:
❄️ A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for Washington County.
❄️ Precipitation is forecasted to begin between midnight and early morning Thursday and lasting through early Friday morning.
❄️ Cold air will move into the area and stall throughout this time.
❄️ Significant ice glaze with amounts of 0.1 – 0.25 inches can be expected.
❄️ 2 – 3 inches of sleet/snow mix can be expected for central and eastern Washington County with amounts of 3-4 inches of sleet/snow mix expected from Clear Spring west.
❄️ Sleet/snow mix worst case scenario shows the middle of the County receiving 6 – 8 inches with West and East receiving 8 – 12 inches.
❄️ Significant travel disruptions are expected for the area through Thursday evening.
❄️ Significant concern for citizens who leave their residence in the morning to check their first step out of their residence to keep from falling.
