Ruptured Propane Tank

This morning around 11:20 AM, station 11 received a phone call reporting a ruptured propane tank in the 1800 blk of Back Rd. Engine 11-2 under Lt. Lescalleet responded and advised Washington County Emergency Communications Center of the call and requested Haz Mat 20 to be added.

Engine 11-2 arrived to find a 1000 gal propane tank that had been leaking. Lt Lescalleet established  Command, notified  HazMat 20 of the situation, and Engine 11-2s crew established a perimeter and pulled an attack line.

Support 10-0 (Funkstown) responding with DES personnel along with Hazmat 20 arrived and begain investigating the tank. After a determining the tank had self vented and tbe situation  was stable, Hazmat 20 was placed inservice. Engine 11-2 and Support 10-0 remained on scene for a few minutes while Engine 11-2 repacked hose.
