Today at 1:45 PM, Company 11 and surrounding companies were alerted for an Inaccessible Incident on the Appalachian Trail near Weverton Cliffs in Company 11s (Potomac Valley) First Due.
Chief 11 (J. Martin) arrived onscene within minutes and established “Weverton Cliffs Command” and directed all Atv/Utv’s to proceed to the Himes Store Entrance, all other units to proceed to the Weverton Cliffs parking lot.
Utility 8 (Boonsboro-Rorheresville) arrived first, unloaded UTV 8 and proceeded up the access Trail. Minutes later Support 11-7 with ATV and Utv 11 arrived, unladed both Atv 11 and Utv 11and joined by 2 personnel from Squad 20-01 (DES, Sharpsburg) and proceeded up the trail access as well.
While these crews were heading up by off road vehicles, “Weverton Cliffs Command ” sent Frederick Ambulance 19-7 and Truck 5 (Brunswick) were sent up a small foot path to see if they could access the Patient.
The Atv/Utvs were able too access the patient and began Patient care. A teenager was found suffering a Allergic Reaction from multiple bee stings. After a patient excessment, the crews from Company 11 and 8, loaded the Patient onto Atv 11 and units began the trip out of the mountain.
Having Frederick Ambulance 19-7 with Truck 5 on foot in the mountain, “Weverton Cliffs Command ” requested an additional Ambulance and Frederick ALS 20 (Jefferson) to respond and report to Himes Store were the patient was being removed out too.
After about a 15 minute trip, the Patient on Atv 11, Utv 11 and 8 were out of the mountain and at Himes Store where the patient was turned over to Frederick 19-6 (Brunswick) and Frederick ALS 20 (Jefferson) for further treatment and Transport.
Having all Units off the Mountain, “Weverton Cliffs Command ” began to release all units not at Himes Store and held Support 11-7, Atv and Utv 11, Utility 8, Utv 8, Rescue Squad 20-01, Ems 1812, Frederick Ambulance 19-6 and Frederick ALS 20 until all Atv/Utvs were back in their trailers and Ambulance 19-6 with ALS 20 onboard transported the patient to a local Hospital.
